When I first started thinking about breast augmentation, I wasn’t entirely sure where to go. As you may know, this is a big decision! I had already had one consultation with Dr. Taraquois, and he suggested I go for a C-cup size. However, my second consultation was with Dr. Parys, who agreed that 330cc implants would be a good fit for my body type – I'm 1.65 meters tall, weigh 46 kg, and my chest was relatively flat. I was convinced, so we scheduled the surgery for September 24th.
The Big Day
On the morning of the surgery, I arrived at 7:45 AM at Wellness Kliniek to complete the final paperwork. Everyone at the clinic was so kind, and it made me feel at ease right from the start. An incredibly friendly nurse prepared me, took care of everything I needed, and explained the steps leading up to the surgery.
Around 8:30 AM, a second nurse came in and informed me it was time. That’s when the nerves kicked in! I was led to the operating room – I won’t lie, it was a bit cold in there, and I wished I’d kept my socks on (haha)! After the usual pre-op prep, the anesthesiologist came in to ask about any allergies (I’m allergic to morphine and propofol), which was a bit stressful. He reassured me, though, and I trusted that everything would be fine. The last thing I remember was lying down and hearing the soft murmur of staff as they got to work.
The Procedure
I woke up feeling okay, to my relief. The surgery went smoothly, and the staff in the recovery room were wonderful, offering comfort and reassurance. By 10:30 AM, I was back in my room. While I didn’t experience intense pain, I did have some discomfort as the anesthesia wore off, but the experience was a lot less painful than I’d anticipated. By 1:30 PM, I was ready to go home!
Post-Op: Day by Day Recovery
Now, let me tell you: the recovery was definitely a journey. The ride home, which took almost two hours, was not the most comfortable. I felt hot flashes, but nothing unbearable. I rested at home as much as I could, taking it easy. That night, I had to sleep sitting up, which was quite uncomfortable.
The next day, I felt much better. The hot flashes were gone, and while I felt some discomfort in my left breast, the right side was fine. By Day 3, I was already moving around with ease, though I did need to be careful with how much I pushed myself. By Days 4, 5, and 6, I was able to wash my hair by myself – a big accomplishment for me!
On Day 10, my bandages were a little looser, but I was feeling so much better. I didn’t need any more painkillers, and I felt like myself again, though I still couldn’t drive long distances comfortably.
The Final Outcome
Now, 11 months post-op, I couldn’t be happier with my breast augmentation results. My breasts have settled perfectly, and they look and feel natural. They’re exactly what I’d hoped for – although, looking back, I might have opted for slightly larger implants, as you get used to the size quickly!
I didn’t feel the need for any post-op consultations because I didn’t have any complications, and I was never in pain. My experience was incredibly smooth from start to finish.
