Neck correction - Neck lift: Platysmaplasty

A PLATYSMA - neck lift (platysmaplasty) only corrects the slack muscle band of the neck. 

Sometimes only the front of the neck sags. As a result two vertical folds appear running from the chin to the collarbone. In this case an extensive neck lift is not necessary and a platysmaplasty can be performed. No skin is removed as by pulling the platysma muscles tight at the front of the neck, the folds disappear.

An SMAS neck lift also corrects :

• the jawline - hamster cheeks/jowls;
• the folds in the middle of the neck: turkey neck;
• the position of the subcutaneous fatty tissue and skin;
• the firmness of the underlying muscle layer of the face, bottom of the mouth and neck; 
• the excess fatty tissue under the skin;
• Excess skin

A neck lift (the lifting and removal of excess skin) is performed in combination with an SMAS and platysma muscle correction. 

In fact the sagging SMAS and muscles weigh on your skin and as a result the skin at the neck becomes increasingly slack.

If you need an SMAS neck lift the the surgeon makes a small incision under the skin to correct the subcutaneous muscles and to improve the contour of the neck. Then the skin is tightened via an incision in front of or in the ear and if necessary in the hair-covered skin on the back of the head.

An SMAS facelift always gives the best results when combined with an SMAS neck lift, in fact both procedures are often combined. Of course you can just have an SMAS neck lift, which improves the contour of the neck, making it more beautiful and younger-looking. 

Liposculpture of the chin and neck

If you don't have any excess skin around the neck but you do have excess fatty tissue then LIPOSCULPTURE of the NECK can offer a solution.

If there is too much fat under the chin and around the neck this often produces a double chin. A fuller neck can make you look fatter and older than you really are. With neck liposculpture we can remove the excess fat via a small incision under the chin.

Neck liposculpture is often combined with a facelift, platysmaplasty or SMAS plication. Though you can still count on a beautiful result if you just opt for liposcupture of the neck. In our experience the skin around the neck becomes tighter and firmer after liposculpture.
